Advisory and Sports Law

Tim Castle is a Barrister Sole and a highly respected and sought after senior member of the NZ Civil Bar.

Tim’s legal career has involved countless engagements acting on behalf of Sports people but also as a Judicial Officer, Arbitrator, and advisor in many Courts, Tribunals and Organisations. This breadth of experience aligned with his practicality and pragmatism, is invaluable for people seeking a resolution to the enormous variety of legal and commercial issues which can occur in the world of Professional Sport.

TC Sports Management can determine whether any particular issue matter needs referral to a lawyer, and of course both Tim Castle and Tom Castle may be the best for the job.

Examples of Tim Castle’s advocacy roles in Sports law

ANZ Championship Disciplinary Hearing 27 may 2015.

Tim represented Katrina Grant, Captain of the Central Pulse for alleged misconduct relating to her interactions with one of the umpires in the Pulse’ game against the Southern Steel (17/5/2015). Tim’s representation was instrumental in obtaining orders which;

  • Allowed Katrina to take her place in the following game which would be crucial in determining semi-final places in the Championship;
  • Deferred the substantive hearing to allow more preparation time;
  • Resulted in a 2 game suspension which in all the circumstances was suspended as to its application for 12 months
